As an area for ice climbing, Rjukan was discovered in the 80's and the classic route Rjukanfossen was one of the first routes that was established. Since then, some of the best ice and mixed routes in Norway has been climbed here, such as Lipton, Juvsøyla, Sabotørfossen and Haugsfossen.
Rjukan offers a variety of routes, from single pitch routes for top-roping to multi-pitch WI6 climbing, all within a 10 km range. Because of its reliable conditions and easy access to high quality ice routes, Rjukan is one of the most suitable places for guiding and instructions.
